Photos of the Collapsed Building with Children Rescued from the Rubble, Today in Lagos Island

At least eight children have died and many more are feared trapped after a building containing a school collapsed in the Nigerian city of Lagos.

The school, which was on the top floor of the three-storey building in Ita Faji on Lagos Island, had more than 100 pupils, a rescue official told the BBC.

About 40 pupils were pulled out alive, the official said. Rescuers were frantically searching for more.

The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear.

The collapsed building was a residential block containing a number of apartments as well as the school, residents and rescue officials at the scene told the BBC.

Emergency teams pulled several injured pupils from the rubble, but many worried parents at the scene were unable to find their children, while others went to a local hospital to look for theirs.

Ibrahim Farinloye, a spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, said the collapse had happened at about 10:00 local time (09:00 GMT).

"It is believed that many people including children are currently trapped in the building," he said.

The Quiet and Shocking Exit of DealDey

DealDey an online business platform accessed by many Nigerians has quietly exited the country in December.

Notably, the website is now empty and surprisingly their last post on Twitter was not an exit note.
It has been reported by TechPoint that DealDey closed its business early December 2018, as this was the last time its users saw any deals on the platform or any of its social media platforms.

It is not a wrong thing for a company to shut down but doing it quietly and not resolving several complains by the customers as found in the series of posts on social media by online shoppers that used the platform could be regarded as a major slight on the reputation of DealDey’s last publicly known owners.
Ringier Africa in 2017 exited DealDey and handed over the company’s reins to Silvertree Internet Holdings.

However, DealDey CEO Kehinde Oriola had earlier asserted that it was necessary for players in the ecosystem to adapt to the market.

He added that the biggest challenges they faced while running DealDey was “adapting the model for profitability while ensuring our customers continue to get great value – which we have now done.”
Apparently, the strategy did not work, as lately discovered.
Furthermore, DealDey is no longer listed on Silvertree’s website as one of its portfolios, leaving several questions yet unanswered.

“Angel” Elsa Hosk will don the $1 million undergarment on Thursday during the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, as revealed by the lingerie company.
The bra, which also comes with a body chain, is composed of more than 2,100 Swarovski diamonds “and responsibly sourced topaz,” the company said in a news release. It has at least 71 carats on the centerpiece and which took over 930 hours to create.
Hosk, a 29-year-old from Stockholm, Sweden, told People on Tuesday that when she tried on the bra during a fitting, “it was just a sensation that I’ve never felt before.”
“My body was violently shaking. And it wasn’t because I was nervous, I was just excited,” Hosk said. “It was a cool feeling that I’ve never felt before. And it was definitely a moment that I’ll never forget.”
Hosk also described the lingerie as “very cool, very simple, modern and so sparkly. If I would have designed it, it would have looked just like this. I put it on and I was like, ‘It looks like someone just made magic and put it on my body.’”

President Donald Trump Plans to End Birthright Citizenship with an Executive Order

Dear Friends,

If you are considering going abroad precisely the U.S.A to have your baby, you need to have a re-think.

Earlier today, President Donald Trump had said in an interview that he plans to sign an executive order to end "birthright citizenship" for the children of non-American citizens who are birthed into the United States of America. This move has been considered as that which would likely be challenged immediately in the courts over its constitutionality.

Trump told Axio on HBO during an interview to be aired on Sunday, exactly two days to the midterm electon:

"It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don't, "You can definitely do it with an act of Congress. But now they're saying I can do it just with an executive order."

"We're the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits," Trump said in an interview for "Axios on HBO." Several other countries, including Canada, have a policy of birthright citizenship, according to an analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates for reducing immigration.

"It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. And it has to end."
